How a single rig became one of Hawke's Bay's fastest-growing log transporters.
Ray Beale grew up around trucks. After years driving for other operators and learning the trade, he backed himself and started R&L Beale Log Transport in 2015 — with one truck.
It wasn't always smooth. The plan was a steady build, but the work came, the reputation grew, and so did the fleet. A decade on, R&L Beale runs around twenty trucks out of Clive and has become one of Hawke's Bay's fastest-growing names in log cartage.
It's still a family business — Ray and Louise Beale at the wheel of it — and that shows in how the trucks are kept, how the drivers are looked after, and how the job gets done. The blue Kenworths aren't just iron; they're a point of pride.
That story even caught the eye of NZ Trucking magazine, who featured R&L Beale in their "Best-laid plans" piece on how the business grew from that single rig into the fleet it is today.
